Engine Boss (ENGB)
$43.00/hr (+ $5.09/hr fringe first 40 hrs per week)
The Engine Boss (ENGB) leads and supervises a Type-6 engine crew during wildland fire suppression operations. Responsibilities include coordinating suppression tactics and crew assignments, ensuring crew safety and accountability, and maintaining clear communication with incident overhead. The Engine Boss is trusted to run the engine, manage the crew, and make tactical decisions in coordination with incident overhead. Additional duties include maintaining engine readiness, equipment condition, and operational documentation while mentoring firefighters and maintaining professional and efficient crew operations on the fireline. This position requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in dynamic incident environments.
Requirements:
ENGB qualification, a current Red Card, current Arduous Pack Test, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a background check. FFT1 personnel actively working toward ENGB qualification may also be considered
