Wildland Firefighter (FFT2/FFT1)

Skyline Ridge Fire Company is actively accepting applications from qualified FFT2s and FFT1s for the 2026 fire season.

We are building a strong call list for our Type 6 wildland engine and are still very interested in hearing from experienced, dependable firefighters who are ready to work.

Skyline Ridge Fire Company operates a Type 6 wildland engine focused on readiness, professionalism, and strong crew culture. This is a small engine module where every position matters. We are looking for reliable, safety-minded firefighters who take pride in their work and are ready to perform in a professional engine environment.

• FFT2: $32/hour + $5.09/hour H&W fringe (first 40 hours/week) 
• FFT1: $35/hour + $5.09/hour H&W fringe (first 40 hours/week) 
• Overtime opportunities are common on fire assignments and pay in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements 
• Assignment-based work during fire season 
• Potential for regional and national dispatch opportunities 

FFT2s and FFT1s on the engine may assist with:

• Hose lays, mobile attack, patrol, mop-up, and initial attack support 
• Pump operations and water handling 
• Tool and equipment readiness 
• Daily inspections, cleaning, fueling, and restocking 
• Working safely and professionally as part of a small, high-accountability crew 

Typical assignments may include 12–16 hour operational periods and 14–21 day assignments, extended as needed.

• FFT2 qualified or higher 
• Current RT-130 and Pack Test, or ability to complete before deployment 
• Valid driver’s license 
• Able to deploy on short notice 
• Reliable transportation to report for dispatch 
• Strong work ethic, professionalism, and team mindset 

We’re looking for dependable firefighters who show up prepared, communicate well, and work hard. This is a small crew environment where attitude and reliability matter just as much as qualifications.
